New to sheep ownership so hoping for some advice!
We had an orphaned lamb that we've let live free range on our property since she was born but shes 9 months old now and we need her to be in with the rest of the flock.
She's our pet so is very used to being around humans. She follows us every where when we're outside so I'm wondering if there's any tricks to introduce her to living in a paddock with the rest of the sheep as I can imagine if we lock her in a paddock she will try to escape immediately.
Has she had access to a ram yet? if not I suggest that you keep her away from the flock that has the ram with it until you take the ram away from the flock. Small and young sheep (hoggets) need very special care if they get pregnant .
The only way to get pets assimulated into the flock is by shutting them in the paddock with the flock.
Thanks for that, no she hasn't been with a ram yet but we will be getting rid of the boys soon. Sounds like we will just need to bite the bullet and Chuck her in with them!
