We have an old goat that has recently developed a "lump" just below his ear and behind his jaw bone.
It has now swollen to just a little smaller than a golf ball under the skin.
He does not mind us touching it and giving it a gentle squeeze.
It feels like a fatty deposit and does not look like an infection.

He eats pellets, branches and leaves with no effort or obvious discomfort.
Does anyone know what could be causing this or how we might treat the problem?

Two pictures of the problem in the photos.
Any advice gladly accepted.

Sorry, I can't offer any suggestion regarding the lump you are worried about, but it does look to me that the goat has a bit of a swelling under the chin - maybe puffy - usually called bottle-jaw. Would that be right?
