Hi

We had two alpacas and one was very dominate and would bite the others ears and spit at him. He would also spit at me and the other alpaca when I was Haltering him.

Anyway's we got rid of him, The other alpaca is a lot more relaxed :)

We now have 3 alpaca's

And they all seem to at day time lie down with there head and neck resting out flat in front of them.

I had seen them do it before but that was in the middle of the night.

Now do do it very frequently

Is it something to be concerned about or is it just that they feel safe where they are?

Many thanks :)

Hi, alpacas sleep kushed (sitting) with their neck/head stretched out in front of them on the ground. When they are lying on their sides in the sun they are sunbathing. You probably notice them resting more often as the aggressive alpaca is gone and in a group of 3 they are more comfortable.

yep, ours do this all the time, especially now that it's so hot.
But I remember when we very first got them, I got up in the morning and went to see them and one of them was lying flat out - I honestly thought it had died! It was awful!! I wish I'd known they laid so flat out!!
:)
