We have a stray cat around that has attacked our cat, five times!

We would like to capture it and take it to the SPCA, does anybody have any ideas or experience to share on how this can be done?

Thanks heaps!
Phil.

We had big problems with wild cats when we first bought the property we are on. We got one of these traps off trade me, they are absolutely brilliant and well worth the money. Being a live trap is really good because if you happen to catch your own cat or a neighbors pet you can let them go, no harm done :D

I kept catching my chickens in my live capture trap which wasn't terribly helpful.. but they do catch things.. depends on how wary the wild cat is... often your district council have traps they can lend/rent to you - that might be an option if you don't think you'll have a continuing problem and need to buy one.

Just use a standard box or cage type possum trap, and bait with meat. Also works for rabbits (not with meat though!)

Barnes, what do you put in to catch rabbits?

We had 3 feral cats that were attacking and injuring our cat at one stage - I just went to the SPCA and borrowed one of their 'Live traps" which worked a treat. Got all 3 inside a week!

Previously I had borrowed a neighbours live catch possum trap, bit all I did was feed the hedgehog population with that.

Bait with fish for fastest results. :D

Is there a difference between a live possum trap and a "live trap"?
If so, what is it?

Thanks!
