First two digits are the month (04) don't worry about the next 3 digits the next two digits are the year (11) the 21:55 is the time. So according to the NRM website that means that yours is one of the batches.

Thanks 2dogs. Fortunately it's unopened, bought some time ago via PaknSave by previous owner of a couple of our hens.

So how long before our eggs are safe to eat again? Our ducks are now cranking up production so hopefully not too long.

As we are feeding 50/50 with Chook Chow and the birds also free range and take care of kitchen scraps the effects should be further reduced I expect.

If its supposed to be in the starter and grower anyway, why recall those?

Antibiotic added to an ingredient in addition to the normal dose resulting in a double dose ?

Thanks Sue, I missed seeing this recall in the paper.

I just opened a new bag too and Murphys Law - a check of the code showed it's part of the recall!

I couldn't buy pellets yesterday, "all recalled "the Wrightson guy said, but never said why. I'll go read the empty bag..... :( Thanks Sue.

Crap it! Well they'll have to eat it for the weekend. Doesn't sound like it will be doing my chicks too much harm.

Unless stated, the above post is not meant as criticism.

Go back and read it again in your HAPPY voice!

I had the same problem on Thursday. RD1 in Albany said they had run out of Peck n Lay because there had been a recall. The assistant didn't know why but said she thought the bags had got wet.

When I got home I checked the NRM website and there was nothing about it.

I see there is now a media release on there. www.nrm.co.nz/index.php/ps_pagename/news/pi_newsitemid/146

Thanks for letting us know Sue. I don't get any of the newspapers that might have had this notice.

Just checked the dates on my last 2 bags of Peck'n'Lay....and yep, they are the recalled batches too. Annoying thing is that I'm almost finished the second bag. We have all been eating the eggs, including my friends children, lets hope we are all okay! Thanks Sue for bringing this to our attention, otherwise we would have never known. I think I might change permanently to another feed now, not impressed with NRM [:(!]

Murphy the dog. 4 chooks: Mocha, Otis, Betty and Suzi.

Tuakau Grain is good. They know all about chooks. And they are usually cheaper - they are the place that other suppliers get theirs from!

Just checked ours and the bag we're currently using is a recall :( Do we still take it back, even though there's not much in there?

Quite annoyed at the thought of binning all our eggs though [}:)]

Sue - Do you know how long the withholding period should be for eggs laid by our chooks that may have eaten the contaminated pellets?
