I've got a huge kowhai on the banks of the river. The bees often have a hive in it (not that I get too close as I have a sever allergy to bee-stings). The retired chap across the road (who also used to own part of my block) told me that he can remember his grandfather having his lunch under that tree when he was ploughing the paddock with his horse team. I must get around to collecting some seed and propogating it - something else on the "to-do list".

we're so lucky to have found this property..we got so many beautiful trees :) i love trees :D even if i dont know what some of them are :D
we have 8 Feijoas [:0]! they look very old
there are two huge walnut trees and a much larger oak!! a very big plum tree that needs a little cutting back. I think some of the trees are natives?
2. photo shows the cones of the 1. picture
3. is the oak
4. & 5. are walnuts
6. is the plum tree
and the others i guess are the natives?

steph, I love trees ..... except for the leaves and the branches and the shade and they have those horrible noisy birds sitting in them making a noise all day ..... oh, and sometimes possums making a noise all night :-)

No.8 is Totara. Could you post closer pictures of leaves for the others unidentified?

A photo of the leaves and the fruit makes identification easier.
