eggs? was created by Jen - Featherston
I have come across a 'nest' in a hollow of a tree, about 1/2 m up the tree. At first I thought it was a rat carrying chook eggs and making a store, until I realised that we only have brown chook eggs and these are white. Same size etc what could they be? There is about 6 or so?

Any ideas?

Could it be a duck? As it is only that high.

Mallard ducks lay a white egg and they can fly (the kind you find in parks).

Yep sound pretty much like duck eggs, parrys often nest in trees if they can find a hollow and its just the right time of year.

There's one problem with pet mallards, they grow up, breed like crazy and then you're inundated with mallards. Hope you like roast duck. ;) They're a very fertile breed.

Hi the eggs will be either mallard or Paradise duck. My thoughts would lean towards the mallard as the nest was found just off the ground. Paradise normally nest very high up in trees. However there can be exceptions to the rule that strange things do happen.
