...I'm hoping I can learn it. Not having a good grasp of right and left doesn't help [:I]

It's a Kea trailer, 2140 x 1300mm :D For anything more technical you'll have to ask Geoff...

Oh, and it's silver :p

My husband tried explaining to me about reversing the horsefloat many times and it all got a bit complicated... "turn the wheel the opposite way you want the float to go" (I think). Well, I spent ages trying to work that out each time I reversed.

What I find easiest is to look out the window, rather than using the rear vision mirror as using the mirror elminates the need to be thinking in double negatives... now Im confusing myself.

I can now reverse a right angle turn from the road, into the driveway and into a narrow space in the barn in only a few minutes.

Anyway, stay cool, practice before going out in public so you don't get flustered with an audience and try looking out the window.

One of the good things about being at the end of a no exit road is I can practice in private :D The horses and goats will no doubt be an interested (and possibly critical) audience but I can deal with them [}:)]

For some reason i have never had a problem with backing trailers but cant for the life of me back a float...hmm :o

But i will never forget a time when i was at the local sale yards. I was on my own (hubby was at work) and had bought some sheep. I had to back the trailer into an area which backed onto some yards and a ramp to get the sheep in. Now there was quite a few "blokes" around and they were all watching me. Not one offered to help mind, with the reversing in ..go right a bit or left or stop your there etc. They just watched smugly waiting I'm sure, for me to make an utter balls up of it [}:)]. But i wiped the smugness of their faces when i backed perfectly first time and just at the right spot for loading. I was the one smiling then. :D Not that i doubted myself..

Jan

When you back a car you watch the back of the car and turn to put that where you want to go, when you back trailer do same but look at back of trailer you will make muck ups so best in large open space :):)

That's it, but ours has a jockey wheel, spare wheel and the tie bars. Very cute :D :D :D

I'll make sure I can back it before trying it out in public, I'd like to be as good as you, Jan, but it may take time...

The most succesful time i've backed a trailer is when I was in a foul mood - just went at it flat out & got it perfect first time. Sadly a one-off!

I couldn't back a trailer to save myself, until I had to do it for a living. Was crap at it for the first three days, then it "came right" somehow and I've been able to back trailers of all shapes and sizes ever since.

Sort of like riding a bike.

If you do a couple of reversing attempts each day, you'll be fine by Monday :)
