Does anyone know a source of healthy, price competitive plants (nursery direct?) near Palmerston North or Fielding? I am thinking Corokia or Griselina. This is for my daughter's urban property. Wouldn't want more than 2 - 3M (maybe 4 at a pinch) in height.

Any other suggestions? It will need to stop car lights flashing the front of their place when turning from a road nearly opposite and wind perhaps.

They are moving in this weekend so are keen to get planting asap. Thanks

Coprosma makes a great hedge, very fast growing, good in a high wind zone,

Wellington Regional Council has a plant nursery that opens July-September, they might be able to help.

3 Cocker Spaniels, 1 Huntaway, 3 Cats, Goats, Sheep, Pigs, Cows, Ducks, Chickens, Bunnies - small petting zoo?:cool:

I'm with you on the griselinia/corokia but I have seen a hedge of toitoi which is exceedingly pretty, if you like toitoi and quite dense, but has the pretty softness of toitoi too but wouldn't need pruning.

Have you tried Town & Country Nursery in Te Matai Road? I haven't been there for a couple of years but used to find their prices more reasonable than some of the larger nurseries. You could also talk to John the Plant Man - he's at the Feilding Farmers Market on Friday mornings not sure about the weekend markets in Palmy.

I haven't been to Matatoa yet but hope to one day soon www.matatoa.co.nz/ - they do discounts for large quantities and specialise in trees and shrubs. They are in or near Shannon.
