Planters made from recycled tyres?

I've seen some of these at the warehouse. They looked very durable and suitable to the task I had in mind - as a planter for dwarf citrus to enable a "2 man lift" into the greenhouse for winter and out again for the rest of the year. However, I'm worried about what will leach into the soil (and therefore my citrus) from these recycled tyres. Does anyone have any knowledge on the subject?

just get some free bald tyres from the tyre shops and chop the sidewalls out. Thats all I do for mum to make raised beds these days, too stony in the Nelson Lakes on a shingle based soil to plant stuff IN the ground.
