Turned on my 10-12 yr old T.V. and have only half a screen showing... the top half is blank, went to the bedroom T.V. runs from Sky, and that is fine. Is it a burial for the Phillips 100 kh digital scan?.....

Our TV is all stuffed up since the storm so we have our name down for the TV Techo to visit. He has a long list so it could be awhile.

Since Sky did their Digital thing TV3 is fuzzy as...unless we go through Sky. Trouble is if OH wants to tape something you can guarantee it is on Sky and I want to watch something on 3!! :(

Husband said it could be frame output chip, capasitor or dry solder joint. Probably worth having it fixed. Take to the TV shop and ask for a quote, set a limit on what you are prepared to spend. They may charge for taking the back off to have a look and give you a quote.

If the picture was good (clear and sharp) before the TV became faulty then it may well be worth fixing.

Here is another question. My TV recently downgraded itself from colour to b/w, would it be worth trying to get it fixed?
If not ... will "regular" tv's (eg. not lcd, crtv or plasma etc) convert to using this new digital signal?

Answer to first part of question - Depends how old it is - what model is it?

second part of question - you need an extra box (set top box) to receive the signal either satellite or terrestrial. Make sure the TV has plenty of external inputs so that you can plug these boxes in. Satellite boxes are sold as freeview receivers and you can get one from mitre10 mega store for $218. Terrestrial digital TV is not yet available as far as I know.
