Help for a computer dumbie was created by jeannielea
I was scrolling the 'favourites'list upwards when suddenly the icons etc at the bottom of the page (e.g. Start ) all moved over to the side of the page. What have I done? How can I get it back without losing it totally? Keep it simple please!

You should just be able to drag it back to the bottom of the screen. Click on the bar, next to the Start button and drag it back. Then right-mouse click on the background of the bar (ie not a button) and choose 'lock the toolbar' from the menu.

Thanks Kate but its not wanting to change! When I drag it, it only goes hafway across the page and then stops. And I can't get it from vertical to horizontal. Its the bar with start at one end, then the volume, msn, printer etc at the other.

Ronnie did that a couple of months ago and I told her the same as Kate has said - she kept trying and it did actually work. Try dragging straight down instead of all the way across the screen.

I'll keep trying but so far nothing happens. This computer is behaving so badly I think its saying its absolutely at the end of its life (over 8 years old) but getting a new one here in masterton is like some kind of nightmare. But we are working on it.

Right click on a clear bit of the bar where it is and make sure it doesn't somehow have "lock the task bar" ticked already. If so, untick and try again.
