what is the best free firewall to use and i know you can use only 1 firewall on your pc.
what is the best way to download a firewall as you must disable windows firewall and i am on a 56k line and leaving myself with no protection on this point or am i missing something here.

Use windows firewall, it does the same job as every other downloadable one out there, and it is less intrusive.

Your best protection is to switch to broadband and buy a router for around $150. It has a hardware firewall built in which is fairly effective. Hopefully you can get broadband in your area of Pukekohe, if so, I heartily recommend it. Priced from $29.95 it's hardly any more expensive than dialup, and you can use the phone at the same time you're on the net.
And Yes, I agree with Wyseyes, the Windows Firewall is good to have enabled as well. Don't bother with any other downloadable firewalls, they are often more trouble than they are worth.

Yes indeed, you have no protection on dialup. My Dad's PC -- running Windows 2000 -- got completely nuked by Spyware through his Xtra dialup connection.quote:Originally posted by rob
