Hiking Socks

Anyone get some good recommendations for outdoor socks? I like the look of ankle walking socksbut I wasn't sure what people's' experience with these were? Do they fall down when you walk or do you prefer having the longer ones for more security? Don't want to lose socks on the mountain ahaha! Any recommendations?

I've used woollen 'gold top' socks since I was a kid. I still get them from Haddad's Menswear in Otorohanga, even though I've not lived in the area for 21 years! As for ankle socks, I use the cotton elastine 3 pack ones from the warehouse, not sure on the brand, but the 3 pack is $14 I think.

I buy a couple of pair each year, they wash, dry, wear well. Much longer than Hubby's blue tops.
