My AVG programme is about to expire and I'm not keen on renewing it, due to the number of prompts and advertising of associated in house products I keep receiving...
Any recommendations as to what is a recommended one these days?

Do a search if you can be bothered. I did some research last time my Eset ran out and ended up buying Kapersky. It seems ok, doesn't bother me much, does its job, had good security reviews.

I use Eset. have done for years now and find the technical staff really helpful if something doesn't look right. (even helped me restore stuff that has nothing to do with Eset.

I use the free AVG anti virus and free zone alarm firewall. At most I get 1 popup each a day and often none

I've used ESET at my workplace for about 10 years now, excellent product, no pop ups other than stuff you'd want to know about. Use Kaspersky Security at home, mostly fine, but I'd rather have their Antivirus software as the 'other' security stuff does pop up with a few more things than I need. Generally happy with both.
