Curious if anyone is aware of any minimum distance limitations in building animal housing nearby residential dwelling (obviously not their own, but neighboring property).

I'm being careful with my words, may go into more detail later on. .

10 metres from kitchens or boundary for hen houses here

Did you know, that what you thought I said, was not what I meant :S

I believe the Christchurch and Selwyn rules are along the lines of poultry can be kept in such a way that they are not a noise or hygiene problem.
I don't think they have minimum distances to boundaries.
Intensive farming, "primary production activities which do not rely upon the productive capacity of the soil" is covered by Ecan, and applies where there are 12 or more birds.

Here the poultry house and run may not be located within 2 metres of the boundary, or within 10 metres of any dwelling

What if the housing/shelter was for larger animals? Does your district Council (or regional if appropriate) have a set minimum distance from either dwellings or boundary fencing?

I've done a search on our local council website and only poultry and dogs are specifically mentioned. Presumably that means I can keep a pig or a goat with impunity
