We have a Rinnai with 3 burners and a wok side burner(also used for pots) It's good. Never used the rotisserie, but it does that too and came with a cast iron lidded roasting dish

Yes - like many things, with BBQs you get what you pay for. Heavy cast iron or stainless steel burners are more expensive, but last much longer. Cabinets vary from cheap Chinese construction to sturdy well-made models. It all comes down to what you're prepared to pay.
Do NOT cross this paddock! ... Unless you can do it in 9 seconds, 'cos the bull can do it in 10!

You are showing your age LongRidge
- most young-uns these days would have no idea about Webber carburettors!
I agree with Rokker, if I was buying a new BBQ, I'd be looking for a thick heavy cast iron plate & grill.

Me (Bryan), a great wife (Julia), a fantastic daughter (Molly), 1 Dog (Vizsla / Collie Cross), 6 Hereford Calves, 5 Chickens, 2 Pigs, 5 Ewe's and a random number of Rams depending on the neighbour currently grazing the paddocks.

Mitre10 Mega in Masterton are doing a special on BBQ's and had GasMate 4 burners (I forget the model name). Heavy gauge construction and only $499 down from $599. I've spent $$$$ before now and they still end up rusty and being replaced after two or three years. Ours stay out doors (under cover and used most year around; so have always thought of them as a consumable.
First of the home kill leg of lamb on there as I type - Ummmm.

Our biggest problem has been finding one with consistent heat across the plate, no cold spots. Friends in Oz recommended Weber Q just under $1000 (we have spent a lot more in the past) and without a doubt, its the best BBQ we have owned to date.

I am seriously looking at the Weber Q Family but I thought it might be a tadge small for a gathering(from the pictures) - how many could you reasonably cater for using it?
