Food preparation, bread and staples
A couple of days ago I bought a ciabata type loaf (read expensive) from a New World shop, one of the ones they bake in the shop. When I got it home I was horrified to see the packaging had been stapled shut. Now I am not a professional chef, but have worked in a restaurant many years ago and small metal objects near food was a definite no no.
It would have been far too easy for the staple to fall on the bread board and get squashed into the bread before eating it and swallowing a staple could be fatal.

Very good outcome. I've had them on Chinese meals, sealing the plastic container inside a brown paper bag. On sandwich plastic containers, those triangular ones. Never thought them a great idea.kai;506200 wrote: jennielea. I emailed the store and have just had them ring back saying, no one is meant to use staples, but some have owned up to doing it and since then have been told no more staples, so a good result. It is not something that will cost the store any money and could save them a lawsuit, so a win all round I think.
