finding out the correct name
Hubby knew of them as Mr & Mrs, we have the hubby's first name, and a letter from them using initials and their surname.
Thinking the electoral roll would be of assistance, it turns out Mrs isn't listed at all with the surname.
Any ideas of how I find out her legal name? Have completed a title search on the property involved and its only in his name.

I have a letter from them which only gives initials and his surname (as hers) but its not how she exists as far as the electoral roll goes... why is it so hard when its a genuine need? [xx(]

That presupposes they are married. Funny that she doesn't appear on the electoral roll, so is possibly in a defacto relationship in which case a marriage certificate won't help.Hawkspur;503349 wrote: I don't know how much information you need to do a marriage search but if you have his full name, that should be enough. If you have a RealMe ID you can probably do this online at the Dept. of Internal Affairs .
Worth a long shot with his name though, and you can always claim "family history research" if internal affairs want to know the relationship. I've found in the past though, that as long as you pay up your $26? you can get access. You will have to fill in a form that identifys you though, but I doubt they pass those on to anyone. If you are a persistent sleuth you might be able to find her in the electoral roll under his address, but it would mean trawling through every name in the roll. Knowing her initials might help speed the process as i think they are arranged alphabetically
Good luck

Sadly not long enough but I do have initials (presuming they are telling the truth on their letter to start with.... I am convinced more and more they have been through this before. but its based on surnames anyhow.

Excellent thought, but I struck out there too.Organix;503358 wrote: Another possibility is to search the Companies Office for him as a director or shareholder of a registered company. If he is found this way there is a good chance she is also a co-director or shareholder of the company. (Hint: Use the 'Option' dropdown to search for director or shareholder.)
Good luck

Many thanks. Nothing under Hubby's name which doesn't surprise me as he is named on the title for a number of years. Even googling their address only brings his name up.loopi;503496 wrote: A bit of a long shot might be the tenancy tribunal orders forms.justice.govt.nz/search/TT/ , otherwise ancient telephone books can be useful for people who used to have nothing to hide.

I went onto the gazette govt notices from g0ggling the address concerned, and this is a long shot but in 1996 at the adjoining property a woman with the same initials as our Mrs was made bankrupt.... what is the chances is the one and the same? Explains a few things.
Now I have a new surname to work with, its off to the library to check the electoral notices again..
