My problem is, it is due on the 20th, I tend to do it on the 20th. [:I]

So pay it on the 20th. Where's the problem?

Probably because like me, it tends to go in the ''things to do dept'' which comes around far too quickly these days.

Like Christmas and house work. [}:)]

Blimey, not when it comes to the IRD! You can be late for Xmas, but not tax payments!

When the earth is rotating as it should then little should affect it, but after the last few months nothing is rotating normally for me and nor will it for some time yet to come.

I do ours monthly, so that helps hugely.
I only have 3 payments per year, the others are refunds, so that helps hugely.
I have not checked recently, but when I used to send in late ones where they owed us, they paid us interest on what they owed us.
When things are really busy, I send in a nil income, nil refund, and balance it next month.
I pay $50 per month for our 2 GB so refuse to waste some of those GB's doing it online.
It take about 4 days for our mail to get sorted in Christchurch, now. Then at least another day to get to Wellington. It will be interesting to see what happens when we have the next payment to make.

Not considered doing that before, I have slightly adjusted dates a couple of times in the assessments when we have received uncleared funds going from one month to the next and paid for the materials once funds were cleared, thus avoiding a huge GST liability for the month with an uncleared credit.

Your other option is to pay cash or eftpos at a Westpac bank - no cheques thuogh either from October 1st. It is a pain trying to get a cheque there on time so definitely think online is the best but if you are in town when it is due then Westpac is not too bad of an option either.
