Anyone know what this is? Came across it in a container of "bits"

It is 5 3/4cm long 'closed' and 7cm long 'open.'
It has some writing on it which contains the word Brittish and a patent number

Does it look the same on the other side and do bits of it move?

Yes and yes. The "T" piece slides in and out and the little handles work independently but like pliers.

When the T handle is pulled, does it bring the plier-like jaws together?

What's on the end of the central handle when you push it down?

A little tongue.

No. They remain independent.

It's an implement of torture, obviously: you pinch some skin together, then plunge the nasty little tongue down into the pinched flesh.

How much will you sell it to me for??? [}:)]

As it is British, probably made for a British industry. Which if it is say 100 years old, would mean, coal (probably not), wool/cotton weaving or something to use on an animal. OK not narrowing it down a huge amount at this point.

Clever Kate. How long did it take you to track it down? And what's its real name? But no looking back at Google!

:D I've wanted to try the Google image search for a while and this worked perfectly. I just dragged your photo to the search in Google images and that was the first suggestion. I can't remember the full name but I do know it's a pipe reamer...
