deleting/removing programs?

i would like to know if i have to keep all of the Microsoft.NET Frameworks on my computer (XP) or just the latest one. They are used rarely it says...

I have those already in my programs:

NET framework 2.0 service pack 2 (184.00 MB)
NET framework 3.0 service pack 2 (165.00 MB)
NET framework 3.5 service pack 1 ( 28.20 MB)

I already removed the NET framework 1.1 was that a mistake??

Hi Kaumea,

The best way to explain what the Microsoft .NET frameworks are is that they are like a "toolbox" for other programs to use.

Generally, Windows XP will work just fine without .NET, but some of your other programs (the ones that have been designed to use the tools contained in .NET) might not.

If you do delete .NET, and latter find out that some of your programs need to use it, it is no big deal as you can download it from Microsoft:

www.microsoft.com/net/download/earlier-versions
