Hi All
Is there a way one can find out the country an e-mail originated from? I did google but it takes me to sites that look dodgy.

If your email provider has provision for you to look at the origin, you can usually get the IP address off that. then goto ip-lookup.net/ and choose
IP Address Lookup (IPv4 & IPv6)
Scroll down and you can see a window to put the IP address into and up will come the country of origin. plus other information. I recently took a spammer off a site I Administrate, which was listed as being a USA member, but clearly was not as this example shows.

IP: 122.226.247.134
Decimal: 2061694854
Hostname: 122.226.247.134
ISP: China Telecom Zhejiang
Organization: China Telecom Jinhua
Services: Recently reported forum spam source. (21)
Type: Broadband
Assignment: Static IP
Blacklist:
Geolocation Information
Country: China cn flag
State/Region: Zhejiang
City: Yiwu
Latitude: 29.3151 (29° 18′ 54.36″ N)
Longitude: 120.0768 (120° 4′ 36.48″ E)

Did you know, that what you thought I said, was not what I meant :S

If it opens directly, take out your own IP address which will appear in the window.

Hi Aquila and Stikkibeek
Thank you. Aquila-I do not mind sending the e-mail to you but I understand that forwarding it to you will only give you info on my service provider. Let me know if that is not the case. Stikkibeek- am giving your suggestions a go. Will let you know if I am successful.

If your emailer is using any of gmail, live, hotmail, etc., then the server will be US.

I use this IP lookup site regularly: www.ip2location.com/demo.aspx
