Not had much need to talk to babies recently, but it is amusing to listen to intelligent adults talking gibberish to babies.
However we do talk to the cat as if he understands every word we say, and then we do just as he demands.
well i have always talked to horses and dogs.Someone once asked me what i was saying.I just said "oh,i was just talking to my horse". Most animals love being talked to
I agree with this poster, one should pretty much talk to kids like they are talking to adults.
Talk reasonably normally to children (even babies) and they will develop their natural vocabulary much much faster. You shouldn't use "baby" (or "cute") names for objects or actions. Call them what they are just keep the vocabularly simple and consistent.
