I see absolutely nothing worth buying that is on "special".Is this a BIG have or not.In fact everyting just seems to be more expensive than say Pack and save.I generally prefer to shop there anyway as i always get a friendly free smile whereas countdown have all grumpy pathetic tired checkout people.

GS. I don't know if you have discovered that the new P&S in Papakura has lots of lines not covered and big gaps in some products. Forinstance, no 500grm cornflakes, only 300grm (S brand) Stuff like that. Last week I couldn't even get H&P cream crackers. Had to go to countdown for them.

I like Pukekohe better.

Did you know, that what you thought I said, was not what I meant :S

We are always surprised how our tiny little neighbourhood New World has a better selection/variety than the huge Pak n'Save - but we tend to shop regularly at both, and we pay attention to the flyers we get in the mail and take advantage of specials. My OH has an uncanny ability to remember food prices :D :D :D so he always knows whether a special at NW is actually cheaper than PnS' standard price.

The coffee we drink for example is always cheaper at Pak n' Save even when compared to same brand on special at New World. Don't shop much at Countdown - just don't find their specials actually very special when comparing prices.

Pak'n Save has always been cheaper than Countdown in my opinion. Yes their range is sometimes a little restricted. But on a full orde there can be $15 difference, worth having. :D

My pet peeve with C*untdown (being our closest shop) is that my favourite tipple K*m Crawf*rd range or the light pinot gris ranges from $7.99 a fortnight ago to $16.00 odd ''normal'' pricing. Currently its at 2 for $24.00 and the special price is $9.99. If you go to P n S its rare to see it over $10.

My next pet peeve is that packaging is getting smaller or non existant (ie biscuit protection, do you ever get an unbroken pack now?). If they want us to use less packaging, give us more product in one pack.[}:)]

I rarely buy biscuits from supermarkets now but the ones i do buy are rarely broken.I was given some craply packaged biscuits by some people at the back of me and they were mostly broken too

i mostly shop at countdown, because it is closest. i do go to pak n save when we are closer as it is cheaper, but not worth spending extra petrol to get to.

a shame your countdown people are not friendly gs, ours are lovely, they really like my kids and always have a smile and stike up a conversation with them. my kids have a couple of favourites that they head off and scout the store for a chat with each time we shop!

We don't like the way Countdown advertise specials in such a manner that other items not on special appear to be included, they will have big notices up and under them are items that are full price in the hope you don't notice at check out, we very rarely shop there, we much proffer P&S and Fresh Choice and for meat we go to Raeward.

I don't like the bad tempered tired looking staff either.I got so sick of waiting one day i just walked out.Nine out of ten times i have had friendly happy looking staff at P&S.
Papakura/Takanini has three countdowns all within about five miles of each other plus a P&S and new world.
EDIT
Oh P&S have more disabled car parks than countdown alto it doesn't mean that legit people use them.I sometimes will pot people with out an id card

We've only had a New World in Warkworth until recently and they've just opened a Countdown. Most people you talk to don't like the Countdown and are sticking with New World.

Oh you lucky people with choices. We have a Pak n Save. We do not have any other supermarkets. If they don't stock something, we don't buy it.

Mind you, now we have a tractor to pay for, we go there even less often than before. The shopping used to happen every fortnight or so; now it's less than every month. It's surprising what you can live without.
