Wait until they run into me then. My dog does all her walking off leash and the only time I do clip her on is when there is another dog nearing us. To me that is polite and I don't know their dog. No problem. Thing is, my dog is totally under my control and comes to call immediately. Those are the rules - there is no "bylaw" saying that your dog has to be on a leash.

there were no other people in the park, just three cars with people in them. The dog was not causing any trouble at all.It wasn't even running around. It was by it's owners side at all times.
Most of the dogs at the back of the Auckland botanic gardens are off leash and there are few problems

Wow! Good on her.
Last time a dog killed something of ours we got some money (inadequate to the value of the killed animal) and a snarky letter telling us we were bastards.

I used to know a guy who had property near Clevedon and he also has other land. The guy has absolutely no feeling for animals let alone dogs.I reported him to the spca once and all they said was "typical lean farm dog". There were also some sick sheep on the property which i also reported.Still no action from the spca

Wow, that's a good outcome Tim. Good on her. Most dog owners that do this sort of thing seem to go into total denial, or yes, 'snarky' when confronted.
