Any german shepherd owners here please?

Yes, have had german shephers for 12 years, we have our third white one. My husband had three before these three also.

We are thinking of getting a german shepherd. But I am looking at working line dogs not nzkc lines as I am not a fan of sloped backs and I love dogs with a working mentality. I don't want an aggressive dog by any means but it would be nice to have a dog that makes people think twice about coming onto the property uninvited as we are moving to a more isolated area.

Roy looks very handsome germanshepherd. How old is he?

Flossie are white ones considered the same breed? Are they interbred with coloured ones or are the lines separate? When I was competing in agility in Australia there was a beautiful white shepherd at my club and she is part of the reason I have been considering a shepherd.

Hi, the white shepherd is its own line, if the gene is in the pool, the Black and Tans can have a white one too. The white ones are not recognised by UK kennel club, am not sure about NZ. We brought two with us from UK and now have a white one who was bred in Waihi Beach. They have all been good temperaments, this one is quite nervy. Will see if can work out how to upload photos.

Our Tanna is one of Lorraine's ...I started out as foster mum (she lived with us for several years and would go to Lorraine to be mated, then come home till she was due, go back to Lorraines to have her pups ..then back to me after about 6 weeks)then when Tanna was speyed aged 6 years she became my very own official GSD (German Shepherd Daughter [][^])While we were fostering Tanna she was still very much my dog ...it just became official once she was speyed[][^]
Tanna has several pups in the NZ police, SARs even has a guidedog daughter ...plus 4 of her pups went to Australia and are in the NSW police force[:0]...so really true working dogs ..Tanna features in some of Heisenberg pics ...Tanna's pedigree name is Yarna Von Heisenburg:eek:

When we had a range of dogs on the homeplace including a Rottweiler and a Staffordshire Terrier it was the old Huntaway that strangers trusted least. It was something about the way he looked at people as much as anything I think.

My brother in law had a hunterway and the dog always barked when vehicles came up the driveway.They have their own sounding bark and you can always tell one
