Is it me ? or has the meteor shower this weekend been a disapointment ?? I was up 1am and 3am Saturday morning and didnt see anything more than the normal amount of shooting stars you see every clear night here. This morning I staggered out at 2am wrapped in a blanket and was out till 3.30am. Nothing exciting at all. 5 "shooting stars" in all. And thats pretty normal for us. The news all said it would be at its peak from 2am this morning and I know the stars well enough to look in the right place.

Was I out at the wrong time ? or am i just so used to seeing meteors out here that this was nothing special.

I didn't see anything exciting either.... although it was one of the rare nights that our neighbours house wasn't looking like skytower with every light ablaze in the wee hours.

We sat in the spa & watched them for a couple of hours. We definitely saw more than usual, over 20 in total. It was AWESOME!

Were you looking to the north? They were all north/north west. Something that we did find amazing was that they weren't all travelling the same direction. We saw at least 3 x that were travelling south west to north east. Weird!

While we are sky watching, when I get up around the 1.30am mark and sit awhile on the verandah, I often watch those little planes flying over and wondering what mission are they on up there?

would it be the mail, newspapers etc crossing the country? I cannot imagine anyone would want to sit in a little plane at that time of morning...

Yeah I was out in my sleeping bag (with other necessary supplies) Sat 2am and was dissapointed. I later read that the big show was supposed to be Wed/Thurs not Sat/Sun....DOH!

I was out, looking north/northwest and saw a couple go in different directions, it was just so few - I expected more. I always sky watch as Im up and about often at night. A real insomniac.
