we bought a cast iron one today, something that we had been after for years. It stated in the description it was also a pizza oven, we tried a pizza but it just burnt it from the bottom. We think in this case the shelf needs to be higher (we can easily adjust shelf height ) has anyone used theirs for cooking and do you have any hints.

hi Kai, yep used ours, treat it like a charcoal BBQ and only cook on embers

don't laugh, but we've cooked a 'roast' on top of the chimney! Worked a treat.

we were also thinking we could smoke something on top as well, but have not tried it yet, but would be interested in how, and timing you did it.
Griev it was down onto embers, but we think this particular one could benefit from the tray being a few inches higher. The current level probably would be fine for meat.

we just turned it and watched it until it was ready - if memory serves it didn't take very long! We've also done chickens in the woodburner - just move wood to the side - we cook the chicken in one of those clay chicken shaped thingies.

lol - we have been known to use a clean (new, and unused) terracotta pot turned upsidedown on it's saucer... does beautiful chicken!
