I haven't been able to wear shoes for about 2 years now (sandals and crocs only). I finally managed to get my foot into some DMs this weekend and after about half an hour I shredded my feet; heels in particular; with blisters because the skin is so thin due to no rubbing. This lot is going to take a few weeks to heel.
Any easy solution to toughen up the skin? I have them bandaged up at the moment until they heel, but I don't want a repeat performance the next time I try.

Any one of these should work till you toughen up your feet:

Long LONG ago, I used to walk and run long distances. This stuff really helped me.

not that i would recommend this.. but when i coached gymnatics years ago .. when the kids shredded the palms of their hands on the rings/bars etc.. we used to pour meths over them... OUCH.. but it toughened them up

Surgical spirit rubbed on a couple of times a day is supposed to toughen you up. Wait for the bilsters to heal though....

+1 for meths. During my alpine days that was the recommended pre-tramp rub in order to toughen feet and avoid blisters. Definitely not recommended as post-blistering treatment though [:0]

OK I get the message, meths, but only on healed skin. I don't think I would even let fumes on one of the blisters, I am just hoping current treatment keeps infection off, before next op next month.
