Alternatively, Franklin District Council site - on the right hand side gives you access to maps. Open it and agree and then assuming you know the address of the property you want to view, put it in the "house" search area at the bottom. You can then zoom in but use the aerial option and it will show you the property google style. Hope that helps.
PS It is up to date on my property as I sold a subdivision late last year and it is already showing the new boundaries.

There is a fellow in the franklin area already doing this if anyone is interested.quote:Originally posted by ame
Depending on what kind of aerial photograph you want perhaps you could take up the hobby of kite photography. Very easy these days with digital cameras. Basically, you get a decent sized kite, set the camera to take pictures automatically every minute or so, attach the camera to the kite and fly it. Even at a moderate height the pictures can look quite stunning.

Just went into the Franklin District Council site and found that the aerial photo of my place in Pukekohe is just on 2 years old (my house was being built when it was taken and I know almost exactly the date on which the photo was taken by comparing it to the many, many photos I took while it was being built). Not so up to date, eh? Reminds me just how much time has gone by, though. Eeek

As for Google Earth, my place only exists as a section in a brand new subdivision before the sections were sold. My house was the 2nd house to be completed in the subdivision and there are still about 3 sections to be built on out of 18.
