Does anyone use FMG insurance for their lifestyle property. I've been looking at their website and am thinking about switching from my 'general purpose' insurance company to one that covers the buildings, animals etc.

Living on a 7 acre property near Oamaru I currently have 5 wonderful Standardbred horses, 8 alpacas, 6 former battery hens, 1 labrador and 8 cats. I eat only plant based food and love trying new plant based recipes. Retired from the paid workforce in December 2019 and have never been busier!!

Yes we do, for our house and buildings/improvements, and also for public liability insurance in case any of our animals get out and wreak havoc...[;)]

We'd been wondering about whether it's a good idea to get lifestyle insurance. If you don't mind me asking tigger, about how much does yours cost? The public liability part was the part that made it tempting. Does it replace your regular house insurance too though? As ours is still not complete so don't think we can move our insurance just yet as no code of compliance still.

5 acres, southdownXromneys (3 ewes, a wether & a ewe lamb, 1 hogget for xmas dinner), boerXkikos (2 does and their wether and doe kids), silkies (black pullet, gold hen, white roo), light sussex (hen, pullet, cockerel), muscovies (2 blue/gray hens, a black and white drake, a couple of ducklings with...

When we got PLinsurance we asked for quotes and found our house/contents (NZI) insurer gave us the best rates for it. Took a bit of discussion to make sure both of us had right what we wanted but got the additional discount for adding another thing to our policy/ It's about $100 per annum for a million dollar cover I think.

We changed over to FMG for everything, cars, liability insurance, horse insurance, outbuildings, house and contents, rental property.

Every policy that was existing was far cheaper with FMG than with other insurance companies, even before re-evaluation due to Christchurch.

Been with FMG for over 15 years. Shopped around a couple of times but that just confirmed we were already using the right insurers. Our policies are a mix of Lifestyle and Commercial. Vehicles are covered for off-road around the farm as well as public highways, all the little things they understand.

Have had 2 or 3 minor claims over the years and never had a problem with FMG claims process.

we use FMG as well, switched from State, for all our insurances, House, contents, cars, tractor, farm buildings, public liability etc. Have had no problems with them, their prices or their claims process for the couple of little claims we have had.

We were with AMI for cars, house and contents insurance. FMG beat all of those existing policies without me telling them what we were already paying...

Just a reminder[;)]
The cheapest preamium isn't necessarily the best! You want a policy with a good price, good coverage and a company with a good claim record...
