I was trying to find reference to the ABC of English language that Didi referred to in the 14 years old post and came across a very good review of The right Word at the Right Time, a book published in 1986 by Reader's Digest.

Alibris prices range from NZ$16.03 (a well used library copy) to a whopping NZ$409.69 for a "New" book, but it should be available around NZ second hand bookshops at a reasonable price.

Well worth a read of this review and the poster mbfarookh really captures what is happening to the English language

Also a good book that is still available through various internet book sales is Outline of English Grammar by J. G. Nesfield www.abebooks.com/book-search/kw/outline-...rammar-j-c-nesfield/

I have a 1922 copy of it which although in good condition internally, the cover is a bit wrecked.

Did you know, that what you thought I said, was not what I meant :S

Thanks for the link, Stikkibeek. Interesting review and commentary. I'm off to check the depths of my library to see if I have the RD book lurking there. The title seemed strangely familiar.
Cheers, Mich.
