Just logging in to say thank you for your help with the wifi thingy I finally figured out what the problem was we had miss copied the password once that was corrected presto! all good, so thank you!
Now how do we transfer files across? Eg young Zoe has lots of photos on this pc that she would like on her own, is it possible to transfer via the wireless network or will it take too long? we could just save it all to a memory stick and transfer it that way, what do you think will be the easiest for IT idiots like us?

To transfer files between computers, you'll need to use File Sharing.

On one computer (or both), make a new folder called "Shared Files".
Then follow the instructions here , on the Level 5 - Shared on the network (Read and Write).
Then any files you want to share, put in the "Shared Files" folders.

Using the Network Neighbourhood, you should be able to see the other computer, and also the Shared Files folder on that computer. (Note - once you set it up, it may take a little time for the other computer to see it).

I see you shiver in anticip......................................................................................ation
