Our 13 year old long haired cat (grizzley in her old age) is feed along with other stuff those furball biscuits (which work!) and a couple of times a week at any time of the day or night she pukes up on the carpet (never bothers to go outside for this). It all happens in about 15 seconds and if we rush around opening the door and trying to grab her she gets quite shity and is likely to bite or scratch us. Any ideas how to modify her behaviour?

Your not wrong Organix but you never know I might come across a cat whisperer on this forum! [

Cats do their own thing, the only modification of their behavior that I can think of does not involve a cat whisperer, but rather a .338 whisper...

there is a product called cat lax that helps the pass furballs through their system, however I just brush mine as often as I can with a brush that removes the loose hair so they ingest less and I don't get much problem with them barfing up fur balls.
there is a brush thingy called a furmanator, effective but very expensive for a little brush thingy, maybe $70 ot $80

When my long haired cat coughs up a furball, if I'm around to witness it, I shove a bit of newspaper under his nose rather than trying to turf him out. He's usually happy enough to barf it up on the paper which makes cleaning up a whole lot easier.
