Washing machine.......I think there is a blockage and friend at work says she can clean hers out so I am trying the procedure. What tool do I need to get the steel clips off, and should I take off at the bottom or top or both? ( I have turned the water and power off! :o)

The hose clips will need a flat blade screw driver or by the look of them if you have a little 4 inch crescent you could use that.
You will probably only need to take the bottom hose clip off to flush the pump or bowl out I would think

Those little pumps are usually just an impella. One of the things that can frequently stop them working, is getting a small coin stuck under one of the blades. Nowadays, it's likely to be 10 or 20 cent coins left in a pocket. It will have water in it, so use a flat tray under it like a roasting dish, or you will get water everywhere. Disconnect the bottom clip, rather than the top one.

Did you know, that what you thought I said, was not what I meant :S

I have determined I need to squeeze the clamps ends to get it loose....whether pliers will do it I'm not sure.....putting it off til tomorrow when I have time to get other tools if necessary....apparently I can google the whole process too. I'm not good at DIY...too impatient...tomorrow I have the whole day to fathom it out.

Just needed pliers to squeeze steel clip ends which loosened the hose and I pulled it off. There sticking out of the pump was a wire from a bra.... :( Pulled it out, put the hose back on and she's working again. Very proud cos I'm a dumb a.se when it comes to practicality..... :D

Oh well done Witheze. I would never have thought of an underwire as a probable. It's usually coins or even those little plastic bag thingys from the supermarket. I sometimes forget I have some of them in my pocket. You'll know what to do if ever there should be another stoppage in the pump now.
