MP4 Multi media player

Some time prior to Christmas I bought through a trusted Aussie & NZ auction site, what I believed was an Apple IPOD MP4 - colour hot metallic pink for E for christmas.

Since playing with the apple site, whilst it looks like the classic series with larger screen, its only 4GB, and the current classic series hold a lot more. The nano series can be 4GB, but our machine is larger in size... same as classic.

There is very little documentation or branding that comes with this item, and I am having problems with it, in that when plugging into the computer USB port, it comes up with an overload message.

Apart from the fact that whilst fiddling with the darn thing, I selected an asian language instead of english and cannot get it back into english... so looked for instructions on the net, thus increasing my concern that its not an apple.... but a cheap chinese duplicate...

I am about ready to throw it out, but it wasn't cheap. Can anyone give me an indication if its an older apple IPOD series?

I am NOT technically inclined, (as Grant can attest) so KISS please![]

Potential Ouch, but the picture on that website site is different to ours... our button at the bottom is exactly apple design, and the screen bigger...

However on the back is: F (what appears to be a C attached to the F) CE..

any help? FCCE

The Chinese are pretty good at making copies which are indistinguishable from the original

I don't recall Apple ever making an iPod called MP4, but just to be sure, I checked their web site, and sure enough, there's no such beast:

These are standard markings on most electronic equipment which is designed for sale in either the US or Europe:

FCC = Federal Communications Commission (US approval)
CE = Conformité Européene (European approval)

I saw various people auctioning similar players on ebay.com.au

Do you have any comeback with the company who sold it to you, or was it a private person [?]

It is graysonline, both in Aust and NZ.

I have sent off an email to their CS people,, will let you know the outcome.[:0][:0]

So much for filling the christmas stocking beforehand....
