Good grief! That is one hell of a horse and did that horse set itself up for the next jump while rider was looking back? Freak horse but what a blessing to the SJ World!
Animals rule our place... cows, calves, sheep, goats, pigs, horses, donkeys, chickens, ducks... the list goes on ...."lifestyle block like" 25 or so acres around the house attached to a rather large farm with dairy drystock & a 600 cow dairy conversion ....1500 acres to call home
Wow! That's one terrific horse. What a leap he has, and very tidy with his hind feet. Doesn't bear thinking about what might have happened if he stuffed it up completely. The rider deserves a good kicking though.
Did you know, that what you thought I said, was not what I meant :S
Mmm... I bet people wouldn't be ooh'ing & aaah'ing if he'd staked his horse on the jumpstand. I agree with Stikkibeek, awesome horse but the rider is a git!!
Yep, and actually, he only just made it inside the red flag - and if the stewards had had slow motion review, they may have said that he jumped with the majority of his body on the wrong side of the flag.
I very much doubt that that is the line he planned to ride - so actually he is very, very lucky.
Actually quite interesting to go onto YouTube and read all the slurring about the guy being a drug addict (past) and nasty comments. I couldn't give a rats about the rider - I am just in awe of the horse and thank goodness he was capable of jumping and not ripping his bits if it had all gone wrong. Down on bent knee to a SJ freak that blows my socks off.
Agree, Didi. I posted because of the amazing ability of the horse. And as for criticising the rider - we're all perfect riders, of course! We've never mis-judged a turn in a jump off, we are always perfectly straight at our fences, we could all do a better job of riding Hickstead (the horse involved) .....

You see people advertising their horses as having a "big, scopey jump". Well thats about the biggest and the scopiest jump I have EVER seen!!!![:0]
Wow - what an incredible horse with an excellent sense of self preservation too. He was not going to touch that jump stand, no matter what! Thankfully he had the ability to go with it.
