Disaster! was created by kate
Just got back to the hut after a day in Whangarei. The weather has been really wet & windy all day. Which would be fine except that a window in the hut has been smashed in the wind :(
So now it's wet and windy inside the hut and obviously has been for hours...
Geoff is looking for a board to nail up and
I'm trying to dry things...
Just what I needed -Not!!!!

Bummer :( hopefully it dries out tomorrow so you can air the place out. Was it a branch that broke the window ? that sucks

The problem is that we live in the hut. Everything is soaking wet -the floor, the seats, the walls, the books, everything except the cats who were safe on the top bunk, but pretty annoyed about the wind [}:)]

Looks as if you will all be sharing the top bunk with the cats tonight[}:)][}:)] or sleeping in the car!

Did you know, that what you thought I said, was not what I meant :S

Like the cats would share...
Our bed is in a separate hut so we can get away from the cats who like to party on into the wee small hours ;-)

Darn - so sorry to hear that Kate. Can I remind you that if you have comprehensive insurance then all your soggy wet things, damage and drying out will be covered and NO - I do not work in insurance anymore. Just a nudge in case you haven't thought about it! Hugs for some sleep tonight and sanity tomorrow.

Thanks Di, we do have comprehensive insurance but we've never claimed on the house insurance as the excess means it's as cheap to replace stuff ourselves.

Palmy - no branch, just a gush of wind pulling an old window open.

Ruth...it is a serious flood for us...at least 70% of our living/kitchen area has been waterblasted!!!!

Oh Kate, that is a disaster. Thank goodness for the bedroom to get away from it.
Fingers crossed for better weather so you can dry out.

Being off grid, I doubt a dehumidifier would be in the plan. [;)]

As spoook says, we're off grid and with the weather being so grim we don't have the spare battery power to run a dehumidifier. It's stopped raining so hopefully things will dry out :-)

I assume one of the pictures is the ceiling?

To replace the glass you might be able to take to window to the glazier, just a couple of hinges.

No, that's the wall behind the bunks :( We've spoken to a glazier who is happy to sort it all out for us :D
