All dairy prices except milk going up at various levels - some like cheese as much as 12% ! My power bills will be up 10% from 1 May. Insurance and council rates will be up later in the year. We all know about fuel costs. Things are just getting worse and worse for those of us on really low incomes.

You're not alone. The same thing is happening all over the world. Too many people wanting a share of fewer resources. Stick to your veggie garden, grow as much as you can yourself.

Everyone has heard of Peak Oil. Think of what is going on as Peak Food, further complicated by rising oil prices (due in part to Peak Oil) which increases the freight costs of all transported items including food :(

Can do fruit and veg plus meat off our property but dosent help with dairy or bread prices. Buying flour etc to make bread is getting expensive. The other thing that gets me is the price of cat & dog food! Good old Tux has shot up since Nestle/Purina took it over.

mum and sis have decided to let the bull out with 2 of the cows that vetted empty, for autumn calving... so we have winter milk instead of having all the cows drying off at the same time. With the jump in prices, the butter stacked int he freezer is now worth another $40 over what it was last week...
