Bang goes the neighbourhood

After nearly a year without a fence between our house & the neighbour across the lane-way, (front & back yard fenced) we decided to go ahead & put up the fence.
Neighbour wanted it high & solid, we wanted it high & letting in air & light to look after the black currants.
2 days later I am on my way to go down the lane to see him, to ask if he was happy, when I spotted that he had a visitor so turned back for home.

Suddenly there is a screech of brakes from a large white van, 6 Riot police tumble out with goggles on & baying dogs at heel, raced past me down the lane yelling like banshees for the men to lay on the ground.
My poor old heart damn near stopped.
I was told by a watching large Policeman to go in the house.
My knees nearly didn't make it; they wobbled long enough for me to see him next door dragged out to the road, chucked on the grass & bellowed at, not to move, not to look round.

My poor wee chooks shot back to the hen house as men & dogs thundered down the lane past their fence.
They did not ventured forth for about 2 hours.

News papers say police were raiding all over Nelson for gang affiliates.

So that was what all those pretty Harleys with custom paint jobs I admired out my kitchen window were all about.[:0]

Bugga that fence.

A couple of days sooner or later & I could have sold pictures to the papers.

Elderly and ill late Father-in-law did a similar thing a few years ago - went out to get the paper at 5am (still dark) and walked straight into an armed offender unit operation. He was told very quietly to just turn around and go inside and do not venture out until told it was safe.

He was very amused by it all, after he got over the shock [:0][:0]

That certainly explains the request for a high and solid fence[}]

jsut as well you turned back or you could have been arested to, lol.

LOL - I heard on the news they were having a crack down on gangs, drugs etc

He seemed like such a nice neighbour too - cooperative on the fence and all - imagine what the next one could be like!!

Many of these motorcycle enthusiasts are damn fine chaps. A motorcycle club is not always some sort of evil gang.

Ulysses Club is a nice bunch. as are the Holy Rollers.

haha yep I love the Ulysses club moto "growing old disgracefully" you can only join if your over 40

I've been on a few Ulysses Toy Runs for charity. They're a great bunch!
