Earthquake cat

Hi there, I have a friend whose house is still without the basics. She is looking at going to Australia next week and needs to rehome her cat or she will have it put down rather than hand in to SPCA to an uncertain fate. This cat was originally off a farm, is around 8 years old, black and a female(been fixed).we cant help as we already have cat killing dogs in residence[!]

I would love to be able to help and live on a farm, but I'll have to discuss it with hubby because we already have 5 cats and 4 kittens [:0]

My mum could be a viable candidate as well...I'll check her out.

What kind of dog could also be possibly looking for a home?

Hi highgirl. I thinkthe dog is maybe a border collie cross, not 100% sure though. She was a rescue too and has been through a lot of stress in her little life so quite highly strung and of course now very stressed out. Quite young too I think. I think maybe she is planning to have her put down too rather than try to rehome her last I heard, but she is so stressed out at the moment and just wants to get out of town.
Doesnt want to burden the animal agencies as they are snowed under. Even a foster situation for a few weeks would be a possible option.

I'd absolutely hate to think of either being put down, but especially the dog after hearing that. I have a border collie and a wee pup (working dog) but would love to help out if I could. We are on a tight budget which is my only concern, but even if I took the dog for a while to give your friend a chance to breath and relax, then we can see where it leads?

I'm in the Manawatu and could take cat rather than it be put down. I'm on a farm but house is right on the road - busy in the daytime, dead quiet at night. I have cat door.

If somebody closer to Chch wants it go ahead. I'm only a last resort.

I lost my elderly cat about 18 months & haven't done anything about replacement, not sure why but financial as well.

I don't have dogs. The farm dogs turn up to the farm office/smoko room which is about 50m away, two to three times a day but have never come over to my place.

I'm home in the daytime at the moment so settling in would be easier.

Use me as last resort if you need to.
