A while ago I posted here about the death of one of our cats, and we suspected a neighbour who is known to be poisoning rabbits and trapping cats (humanely, in a (I think) council provided trap). Last week I was rung by a firm called Greenstone Pictures who make the tv show Neighbours (or Neighbours at war or some such). I told the journalist that there was a) no proof, and b) that I certainly didn't want it to go further. Last night another neighbour was called by the same firm. Now, I realise that having my contact details in my signature makes me game for the nutters out there, but I am appalled that they are now finding out who my neighbours are and calling them too. I rang the journalist this morning and told her in no uncertain terms that the story was not a story and was to be halted, and that she was not to contact any more neighbours. I have now now been rung back by the principal of the firm "to explain her position". She is "concerned" that other neighbours may have similar concerns over their animals, and so obviously feels it is her civic duty to rark up a peaceful neighbourhood and thus end up with neighbours at war, and then a topic for her programme. If she had read the post carefully and taken its meaning, she would have known that there are no other neighbours close by that are of our ilk (raising animals, owning many pets etc etc). The neighbour who rang us last night (after having been rung by the journalist) could work out where the story must have come from (e are the only ones with cats for miles) as indeed will all the other neighbours. My point here is be careful what you say here on this forum - there are idiots out there (not the LSB family) who will stick their noses into things that do not concern them and cause problems where there are none. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

ACK! This happened to us a couple of years ago, when I posted about neighbours, uh.. 'borrowing' electricity off our hotwires to power their own on their property. A few weeks later, phone call from the same outfit you mentioned above. Nice. NOT.

Sometimes its not only what you say, its the way you say it that counts.

I did and I do - I just didn't imagine the neighbours would feel the fallout by being contacted by this unpleasant firm. The neighbours knew about the original situation as I had written to them - it is just the really nasty feeling that quite a lot of effort has gone into finding out (by Greenstone) who our neighbours are and then having them fired up by a relatively minor situation. Am now warned, and I hope everybody else is, that when one complains about one's neighbours in a post, these people will be there, tongues hanging out, baying for blood!!

Sorry this has happened. Who needs this kind of stress. I hope you made it clear to Greenstone that you would be spreading the word about their disgusting tactics.

Since this posting has the words neighbour in it repeatedly, I'm rather hoping that their investigative journalists will pick it up and read how we feel about them. :D But yes I did mention something along the lines of passing it on.
