Just asking your thoughts and positive vibes for our daughter Sarah who lives on a beach on the outskirts of Cairns. Since her in-laws live in Atherton which is also in the path of the cyclone she has opted to stay with neighbours who have been through 4 previous cyclones and who have an underground concrete garage. Her husband is away on business - still in the zone but on the edge of the predicted course and has been unable to get back. And she has Gracie who is 4 and Zaire who is 7 months to look after.
Oh no - good luck to Sarah and the kids. A very stressful time coming up for you. Sounds like a great option next door at the neighbours. Positive energy going your way:)
Sarah, Gracie and Zaire will be in my Prayers jennielea ..along with 2 of my nieces and their families who live there too ...actually I shall be praying for each and every resident.
I once worked with a women who had been in Darwin during Cyclone Tracy. Such an experience is something that is remembered for a lifetime. Best wishes for those in North Queensland as I hear Yasi has now been upgraded to a Category 5 cyclone.

Good news for us is that our family were going to Atherton during the night. Bryan managed to get a flight home so they will all be together and with all relatives in Australia. Thank goodness they are off Machans beach which is reckoned to get water 5 metres above normal high tide. Their house is about 25mtres from the water!! Atherton will also get hit badly but at least its high ground.
Thanks to all who are thinking of them and Leonie's family and every one else who has family or friends in the area. Its going to be a hard few days.

Had someone come in to my office today complaining about the wind. Told her just be thankful she doesn't live in Cairns. She looked a bit shocked. funny how easy it is to forget how lucky we are compared to others. My sis used to work at Dunk Island, which is right in the firing line for Yasi. I'm so sad to think of what the cyclone will do to such a beautiful place.
The family seem to be okay thank goodness. What about your lot Leonie? Sarah doesn't seem to have cellphone so I rang but she was sleeping. Her neice said it had been a horrendous night with unending noise. There are trees down around the house and a lot of water but otherwise okay. However Sarah's house in Cairns is still a question and with the high sea surges I suppose it will have had water through it. We are soooo thankful they are okay but feel so much for those further south who took the full brunt.
Prayers answered thanks Jennielea all present and accounted for [^] all things considered it could've been worse ...wonderful that no one was killed ...buildings are replaceable ...lives are not.
Cheers
