Interesting property. I did some work there a few years back and was intrigued by some of the 'features' :cool:

It is Alan Gibb's property (I believe it used to be part of or adjacent to Neil Barr's original farm). I met a surveyor once that worked on the property setting out some of the landscaping features - I'm told the ponds just inside the entry from SH16 are in the shape of fish if viewed from the air.

I'm also told that Alan didn't like to see fences on skylines and in the early days a fencer had the near full-time job of shifting fences below ridges so that they couldn't be seen in the view. I guess most of that's academic now because it seems like a large part of the property is mowed rather than grazed.

As for 'dodgy German' being racist, how do you come to that conclusion Farmer53? I have no idea who tigger is referring to but if he's dodgy & happens to be German, I would consider that observational rather than racist. If she'd said all Germans were dodgy, THAT would be racist.

I took over 70 photos of the fountains as they played up and down and every which way. It was amazing. Very rarely do we have time to stop to watch it when it is running.

He does have some amazing and totally useless sculptures on T he Farm , oh to have to money for even one of them. :rolleyes:

I thought that it was the rain that got pinched from our place this year! Could be wrong. Any one in NZ got any rain they do not need?

I got the wrong property, this 'businessman' of German nationality [}] (is that better?) took over the Chrisco mansion, not Alan Gibbs' place.
