Attn Rangiora folks - community newspaper? was created by Andrea
Oxford has the Bulletin, Darfield has the Malvern News... does Rangiora have something similar that is community produced (not like the North Canty News or Northern News - I think that's what it's called - which are the 'local' editions of the same main paper...). I'm more interested in the little community papers that come out regularly.

The Northern Outlook has its office in Rangiora. Used to be locally owned and run by Les Whitehead and his wife when I did some writing for them back in... oooooh..... 1999-ish. But I think it has since been bought by one of the major players, Fairfax or someone (they own The Press, right?). It comes out twice a week.
I believe North Canty News is owned by the ChCh Star.
I haven't seen any other local bulletins, but I haven't been looking particularly. I will keep an eye out for stands of them next time I'm walking down the High Street.

Thanks, Seaside -- I've been racking my brain trying to think what I've seen in Rangiora besides the 2 that come to our box (Northern Outlook, North Canterbury News). All I can come up with is the tourist one, and a walk through the yellow pages has revealed nothing other than the above. I don't get over way very often...
What I'm after is an inexpensive way to advertise, but that would reach a good-sized readership, such as the Malvern News and the Oxford Bulletin, but a bit closer to Rangiora.

Funnily enough, one arrived this morning!
Looks to be a monthly (the advertising deadline for the next issue is 20 December) and is relatively new - we're on issue 6. Based in Oxford.
It's pretty much pure advertising with a few bits like "What's On" and a gardening tip.
They have a website www.ruralmessenger.co.nz and apparently the rates can be found there.

I've not seen it either and we're in Swannanoa, but probably that's due to the No Circs sign we have on our letterbox. Somehow that seems to include the papers. The Rural Messenger has an email version that one can subscribe to, if it isn't delivered.
