Most results are in and some interesting selections.

Obviously some popular mayors out there too, going by the margins of the votes.

Did you know, that what you thought I said, was not what I meant :S

I forgot to vote! :( The first time ever. I had things closer to home to worry about and this morning, when clearing off the dining room table (which is never used for eating off :D ) I found the voting papers. I thought, Ah well, pack of old wankers anyway and threw them in the fire which was hardly helpful. I have no idea who has ended up being the Mayor of the Far North. I sincerely hope it wasn't Wayne Brown but the alternatives didn't appear to be much better - a group of old businessmen with a lot of money and not much to do with their time.

Cheers,
Ronnie

Well, I've got a brand new council, Waikato, after Franklin was decimated by the big city. I knew nothing about any of the candidates, but voted for the one that had the most common sense, and didn't speak a whole of marketing bullshit (and was a farmer.) He got in. Will be nice to be represented by someone with a rural background, which never happened in semi-suburban Franklin.

Judging by the article in the Waikato Times, the retiring Mayor sounded like an interesting kind of dude,

Invers got Tim back again - no surprises there. But the interesting part was that the bloke that Tim had a rather public spat with - his Deputy Mayor, got shunted well down the list and by all accounts was lucky to be back at all. So I guess that gives Tim a clear mandate to do as he sees fit and not to worry about anyone else.
No doubt will be a new Deputy. There are 3 new councillors as well, so Tim will be in his element.

Stu, pleased about Marg Kouvelis as we have known her for many years - but did not know she was standing. Now she might shake things up a bit!!

NOT happy here - Jim Anderton was WAY ahead of Bob Parker - until the earthquake struck.

Bob Parker was instrumental in the sacking of the ECAN Councillors and he holds most meetings behind closed doors so the public only finds out about his doings once the decisions have been made.

Before September 4th Bob Parker had no chance of being re-elected and now he is back:(. Three more years to remind us Cantabrians of the devastating and long lasting effects of the earthquake.
