Your error couldn't possibly be as bad as one on the front page of a rest home I recently looked at. They said they aim to make their residents as dependant as possible. I pointed this out to them and now they have, "We assist all residents to live as independant as possible."
Grammar is still somewhat lacking!

Pity to see the AA magazine has contributers writing in the present tense about the places they visit. I thought that at least the AA would have been above that. The Americans write that way, but at least they stick to that same present tense throughout their article and that's how they do it. Some of the articles in the AA go from one tense to another almost alternating paragraphs. Sad.
Enough ..... I mustn't go on! But yes, Kate, I jumped for a split second thinking that Need Assistants? meant just that! Hope they don't put the candidates through a writing test!

The most common mistake I see is the inreasing ignorance in the difference between of there/their/they're, where/were/we're and the use of
apostrophes [!]
Generally it only takes a couple of such mistakes in a piece or post and I write it off and move onto something that makes more sense :confused:

There seems to be a widely held misconception that US Americans speak English. It is quite obvious that American is a language related to English in much the same way as the language of Mexico and the majority of South America is to Spanish.
The same applies to texts. If the sender of the text can't be bothered using correct spelling 'because it takes less keystrokes' then my answer is "no" because that takes like keystrokes than "yes" :rolleyes:

There is a local Irish pub here in town which has witty slogans painted on the outside. I counted 14 of them, and not one had no spelling, grammer or punctuation errors!
11 acres (4 in QEII Covenanted native bush), 15 sheep, 2 beefies, large vege gardens and a goat, and still no dog!
Oh, and uncountable wild birds - including fantails, swallows, yellowhammers, morepork, magpies, hawks, pukekos, and even quaill, pheasants and rainbow lorikeets [][] Not to mention possums, hares, rabbits, rats...
