Any foodie recommendations for Blenheim?

Will be making a pilgrimage to the Mussel Pot in Havelock in the hopes it was as good as last time (about 3 years ago), but is there any place in the area that shouldn't be missed? Nothing fancy, rustic food is my favourite... will be in Blenheim for a couple of days with my daughter, for a much-needed break before kidding is due to start in a couple of weeks, and we just want to eat, walk, and use the spa bath at the motel... :D :D :D :D :D

Not so much foodie as coffee for Blenheim town itself...Figaros on Hill St (?) does the best coffee I found in Blenheim [;)] In fact, it was an oasis in the midst of...no cafes! :( unless I managed to miss them all in the five days I was there?

Take a break...while I take care of your home, your block, your pets, your stock! [;)] PM me...

If you're goign via the coast road, grab some crays in Kaikoura :D

otherwise not sure about blenheim, but the fish and chip shop on the pier in nelson by the haulaway ferry and the immigrant ship memorial is divine :D

If you're heading via Lewis pass you'll be within a few Km of here so feel free to drop by :D

We're taking the train!!! :D :D :D Never done it before, and it was my MILs' bday gift to my daughter (and her escort, me!). Thanks for the invite, kiwi, I will endeavour to make it up there at some stage, as I'd love to see your place.

Would love to have stopped for a whole pot full of crays... So it's up to Picton, hire car, drive to Blenheim and blob out.

No cafes in Blenheim?!! Well, a knowing about a good cuppa is almost as important as knowing about a good nosh, so thanks for that, tigger!

there are some cafes in blenheim, the one I generally stop at is the one on the road out from Blenheim to Renwick, theres a Fresh Choice supermarket with a garden centre attached on the corner, the garden centre has a cafe inside. Good long blacks.

Thanks again for the recommendation, Kiwi - that is indeed a really good cafe, not just the coffee, but the food. Also found a restaurant called Raupo, at the edge of the city centre down by the river. Great food, really reasonably priced. The weather was awful for most of the weekend, so none of the outdoor stuff that I'd had planned was done...

I always head straight from the airport to Mudbrick Vineyard for an awesome bottle of wine and roast vege & feta pizza by their open fire - and no, it doesn't matter what time of the day I arrive hehehe

Yes, she did, thanks for asking, Kiwi. It was OK by me, but then I think I'm turning into an old fogie... did not much appreciate the partying with hip hop music till past 3am on the Saturday night or the drunken gasbags who rolled out of the pub and onto the train at Kaikoura and had me completely deafened by the time we reached Rangiora.... I'm still trying to catch up on sleep.... [}:)] DD just found the whole thing amusing...
