Is this important to some on here? Just found it searching for something else. I am still on Vista so not me and I'm not sure I know what it all means. Were there trial versions of Windows 7 made available and this is aimed at them?

Mildly confused as usual!

It was a freebie DiDi so that people could try out Windows 7 before it was released. Their feedback was very helpful to Microsoft during the pre-release phase of Windows 7.
So ... unless you downloaded what were called Beta or RC versions of Windows 7, you don't have anything to worry about. The files were absolutely huge so there is no chance you could have done it unawares.
If you have paid for an upgrade, you would have received some DVDs in a box and then had to install them. People who have paid for a Windows 7 upgrade aren't affected by this, only those who are still using the pre-release versions. They were advised of the expiration date prior to installing the software, so Microsoft isn't doing anything underhanded here.

Thanks - no problem for me. Having experienced the foibles of Vista, I won't be changing any time soon or at least until it has been around a bit longer to ensure it is all sorted. The Updates for Vista are massive in quantity. I'm sure they are using up my Hard Drive quicker than I ever could.
